"Screening for alcohol use is effective among young people."

Interview with Philippe Michaud, an addiction specialist at the Gennevilliers Alcohol Treatment Center and medical director of the Institute for the Promotion of Secondary Prevention in Addiction (Ippsa). Young people aged 15–25 who engage in risky alcohol consumption do not typically seek out specialized prevention services, notes Philippe Michaud, an addiction specialist. However, it is possible to identify this behavior early on—which is generally associated with tobacco and cannabis use—and then implement prevention interventions. Based on a Quebec-based screening model, Ippsa trains general practitioners and school health professionals.
