Bronchiolitis Epidemiological Bulletin. Summary of Surveillance Data for 2016–2017.

Key Points

The 2016–17 bronchiolitis epidemic in mainland France was comparable to that of 2015–16 but more severe than that of 2014–15.

According to the new alert criteria defined in 2016, the outbreak began in week 46 of 2016 and ended in week 10 of 2017, lasting 16 weeks.

The epidemic peak was reached nationally in week 50 of 2016 and was surpassed in all metropolitan regions in week 02 of 2017. The dynamics were comparable to those of the 2015–16 epidemic.
