Heat Wave and Health Alert System. National Update as of August 25, 2016.

Summary

A heat wave began on Tuesday, August 23, and is expected to continue through Monday, August 29. Thirty-seven departments were placed under an orange alert on August 24 (an increase of 23 compared to August 23). This heat wave affects a large part of the country.

  • On August 24, visits to emergency rooms for conditions directly related to the heat increased compared to the previous day at the national level and in the Île-de-France, Centre-Val-de-Loire, Grand-Est, and Hauts-de-France regions.

  • The increase mainly concerns people aged 75 and older in emergency rooms and adults aged 15–74 at SOS Médecins clinics.

Simple prevention tips should be followed by everyone, including those in good health.
