Heat Wave and Health Alert System. National Update as of July 20, 2016.

Summary

A brief but intense heat wave, the first serious consequences of which were two worker deaths and the mobilization of emergency services at two children’s camps.

  • An increase in heat-related medical consultations was noted in emergency departments and at SOS Médecins clinics.

  • Furthermore, although Météo-France has not yet issued an orange alert, two heat waves were observed from June 23 to 25 and from July 9 to 10, 2016, leading to an increase in heat-related medical care requests at emergency facilities and SOS Médecins clinics.

Preventive measures are therefore warranted for any heat wave.
