COVID-19 in France. Update as of August 28, 2024.
Key Points
In week 34, syndromic indicators remained stable in the community and in hospitals. The proportion of hospitalizations following visits to the emergency room remained moderate compared to previous waves of viral circulation.
Virological indicators have remained generally stable for several weeks in the community and were decreasing in hospitals.
Detection of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater, however, was on the rise.
Given the ongoing circulation of SARS-CoV-2, particularly during large gatherings this summer and in long-term care facilities, adhering to preventive measures remains an effective way to protect against respiratory infections and their complications and to limit the risk of transmission to others, especially vulnerable individuals: wearing a mask if symptoms are present and regular handwashing are therefore recommended.
