Breastfeeding: Peer mentors to support new mothers.
Breastfeeding is not widespread in France, particularly among disadvantaged populations. Networks of perinatal care professionals support new mothers to create conditions more conducive to breastfeeding. Specially trained "support workers" assist mothers in their local communities, providing personalized support and close follow-up. This support extends beyond breastfeeding to encompass all aspects of parenting. This program, known as PraLL in France (La Leche League Breastfeeding Support Program), is the French version of the “La Leche League International Peer Counselor” program currently implemented in some thirty countries.
