Community health mediators: a bridge between healthcare professionals and migrants.

How can healthcare and social service professionals learn to listen to the migrants they serve and take their stories and perspectives into account? By enlisting the help of "community health mediators" who share the same cultural background as the people they serve. These mediators play an indispensable role as "bridges" in certain situations. But this work is often challenging because they lack recognition.
