Inequalities take root as early as early childhood.

In July 2016, the High Council for Public Health (HCSP) published a report titled "Economic Crisis, Health, and Social Inequalities in Health." One chapter is devoted to early childhood, with the High Council emphasizing that an adult’s health is linked to living conditions during childhood. Excerpts on two topics: the importance of the preschool years and policies regarding early childhood.
