Mental health suffers from a lack of time spent in nature
The sensory and emotional experiences associated with regular interaction with the natural world have a positive effect on people’s mental well-being, helping to restore focus and reduce stress. They play an important role in children’s cognitive and social development. Yet, our connection to the natural world has been fading over the generations. To combat a form of environmental amnesia, several measures can be taken, both individually and collectively.
