Paris 2024 Olympic Bid: Health Impact Assessment.

A relatively new development in the history of major sporting events, a health impact assessment (HIA) was conducted in France during the bid phase for Paris 2024’s bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (OPG). This HIA supported the development of the “legacy” strategy for this bid, by anticipating its expected health effects and formulating recommendations. Promoting sports participation for all, employment and volunteer opportunities, and the environment were the priorities of this initial assessment. Focus on employment: The HIA concludes that the job creation expected to accompany the Paris 2024 OPG will likely have positive benefits on the health and quality of life of those who benefit from these opportunities.
