The Promise.

*The Promise* is the title of the Belgian film reviewed in the Cinésanté section. This film is suitable for a wide audience of teenagers, provided they are prepared for its deliberately realistic style. Four key themes related to health issues are identified: choice, decision-making, and free will; the economic, social, cultural, and family environment; the father-son relationship; and loneliness. The authors detail the discussion points that can be used after the screening and note that spontaneous discussions often tend to focus on striking elements (certain spectacular or moving scenes). It is therefore advisable to reflect on the film’s structure. This reflection helps improve viewers’ understanding of the film. Certain overlooked elements can thus more easily resurface during the process of recollection and reconstruction. A sidebar outlines the prerequisites for this type of work and the ethical framework it requires, given that it may touch on each person’s privacy.
