Rectal examination: the need to strengthen a culture of consent

Informed consent can only be given if the question asked is accompanied by accurate information. A digital rectal exam for prostate cancer screening is a medical procedure that involves a patient’s privacy. And the doctor does not necessarily obtain the patient’s consent before performing this clinical procedure.
