Research helps identify approaches to intervention and prevention.

According to Alfred Spira, director of the Institute for Public Health Research (IReSP), research plays a major role in shedding light on social health inequalities and identifying potential levers for intervention based on the behaviors and perceptions of the population. For example, in the area of preventing preterm birth and neonatal mortality, research combined with action has helped reduce inequalities by improving access to prevention and care for the most vulnerable populations.
