Cognitive CPS Worksheet: Developing Full Attention – Toward Oneself (C1.6)
This fact sheet focuses on the first general cognitive psychosocial skill (CPS) and provides a summary of a specific cognitive psychosocial skill: Strengthening Full Attention—to Oneself (C1.6). Strengthening Full Attention—to Oneself—develops “the ability to perceive one’s thoughts, emotions, desires, needs, and sensations in the here and now (…). Strengthening one’s full attention—to oneself—requires developing three main psychological skills: Skill 1: Deliberately directing one’s attention to the present sensory experience; Skill 2: Observing and fully embracing the present sensory experience without judging or altering it; Skill 3: Engaging in various formal and informal activities of full attention—to oneself—on a daily basis. This specific skill can be applied during CPS activities. Thus, following a theoretical section, practical examples are presented for adults, adolescents, and children.
