Cognitive CPS Worksheet: Strengthening Full Attention—Toward Oneself (C1.6)

This fact sheet was written by Béatrice Lamboy based on Volume 1 of the CPS Reference Guide published by Santé publique France. It focuses on the first general cognitive psychosocial competency (CPS) and provides a summary of a specific cognitive psychosocial competency: Strengthening one’s full attention—to oneself (C1.6). Strengthening one’s full attention—toward oneself—develops “the ability to perceive one’s thoughts, emotions, desires, needs, and sensations in the here and now (…). Strengthening one’s full attention—to oneself—requires developing three main psychological skills: Skill 1: Voluntarily directing one’s attention to the present sensory experience; Skill 2: Observing and fully embracing the present sensory experience without judging or altering it; Skill 3: Engaging in various formal and informal mindfulness activities—focused on oneself—on a daily basis. This specific skill can be applied during CPS activities. Thus, following a theoretical section, practical examples are presented for adults, adolescents, and children.
