Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Update as of August 21, 2024.

Key Points

The closing ceremony of the Olympic Games took place on August 11, 2024. Ahead of the start of the Paralympic Games on August 28, Santé publique France is maintaining enhanced monitoring and surveillance.

Syndromic surveillance

  • In week 33, activity remained stable in the OSCOUR network and increased in the SOS Médecins associations across all age groups. This increase is typically observed at this time of year.

  • In both networks, there has been an increase in cases of digestive disorders, including gastroenteritis, across all age groups.

  • After declining in week 32, pertussis is on the rise this week in both networks, among adults and children.

Wastewater Surveillance

  • In week 33, the downward trend in SARS-CoV-2 circulation levels in wastewater continues nationwide.

Weekly regional updates

The production of regional updates for Île-de-France and Centre-Val de Loire, regions hosting Paralympic events, will resume in week 34.
