Key Points

In Week 37 (September 7–13, 2026), the second week of the new school year, activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased compared to the previous week among children under 2 years old (+28%, or +1,121 visits) and among children aged 2–14 (+39%, or +5,674 visits). It remained stable among adults, though it was still higher than in previous years for those aged 15–74.

Respiratory, ENT, and infectious disease indicators were on the rise, mainly among children, and at levels comparable to or lower than in previous years:

  • asthma attacks: +114%, or 249 more cases, among children, and +22%, or 96 more cases, among adults;
  • bronchitis in children: +108%, or +325 procedures;
  • upper respiratory tract conditions: +77%, or +5,370 treatments among children, and +15%, or +1,657 treatments among adults;
  • influenza/flu-like illness among 2- to 14-year-olds (+63%, or 174 additional visits) and among 15- to 74-year-olds (+13%, or 217 additional visits);
  • suspected COVID-19 in children (+97%, or 32 additional cases) and in adults (+62%, or 169 additional cases);
  • viral syndrome in children (+56%, or +146 cases) and in adults (+8%, or +35 cases).

Visits for digestive disorders were also on the rise, at levels comparable to previous years:

  • gastroenteritis in children (+22%, or +340 cases) and, to a lesser extent, in adults (+5%, or +165 cases);
  • acute abdominal pain in children aged 2–14 (+17%, or +60 visits) and in those aged 75 and older (+23%, or +32 visits).

Among children aged 2–14, the number of cases involving trauma increased (+23%, or +173 cases) to a level slightly higher than in previous years, as did the number of cases for malaise (25 cases in Week 37 vs. 9 in Week 36), but activity for this indicator remained within the usual range of fluctuation.

Finally, while the number of death certificates issued by SOS Médecins was up compared to the previous week among those aged 75 and older (+10%, or +29 cases), it remained within the range observed in previous years during this period.
