Key points (excerpt from the report) - Strict selection of firefighters during recruitment, leading to high undermortality in the youngest age groups - Mortality comparable to that of the general population in older age groups - Undermortality for circulatory system diseases - Cancer mortality comparable to that of the general population, with excess cancer rates for certain sites (rectum/anus, pancreas, lip-oral cavity-pharynx, stomach, liver and biliary tract, and larynx) - Excess mortality due to accidental falls - Initial lower mortality but convergence with the general population in the oldest age groups
