Qualitative research on ways to improve the health of people with disabilities or who have lost their independence, as well as that of their families and caregivers. Preliminary work toward the development of a research protocol.

As part of an agreement between the CNSA and the INPES, preliminary work was conducted in 2008–2009 with the aim of developing a qualitative research protocol on ways to improve the health of people experiencing a loss of independence or living with a disability. The findings, summarized in this document, are based on three types of data: -Hearings with organizations dedicated to assisting older adults, people with disabilities, and/or their caregivers. -Two literature reviews on people’s health needs, addressing age-related loss of independence on the one hand, and disability on the other. -Exploratory interviews with the study population.
