Technical information on occupational exposure to man-made mineral fibers. Job-exposure matrices for man-made mineral fibers (MMFs): - mineral wool (glass, rock, slag) - refractory ceramic fibers (RCFs)

The purpose of this guide is to present the occupation-exposure matrices specific to man-made mineral fibers developed by the Department of Occupational Health (DST) of the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS) and ESSAT (Associated Team in Occupational Health; InVS-DST/Isped-LSTE; Bordeaux), and to provide technical information on occupational exposure to these products in France from 1945 to 2007. The job-exposure matrices provide, for all jobs considered to be exposed in France, the probability, frequency, and intensity of exposure for mineral wool (glass wool; rock wool; slag wool) and for FCRs. The matrix for mineral wool, accompanied by a summary brochure, is available on the InVS website (www.invs.sante.fr). The FCR matrix and its summary brochure will be available at a later date, along with an update to this guide. (R.A.)
