At a time when extensive debates are taking place regarding the role and place of physicians in the prevention system, this new "Health Barometer" analyzes and comments on the responses of two thousand general practitioners. The main topics covered are: their preventive practices, their opinions and personal behavior regarding health, screening for cancer, HIV, and hepatitis C, vaccinations, the management and treatment of addiction issues, and relationships with elderly patients.

The 1998–99 Health Barometer for Physicians is intended for all public health stakeholders and decision-makers interested in the role of general practitioners in the field of prevention.
