Following the outbreak of avian influenza in Southeast Asia, France, like many other countries, began developing national plans to respond to an influenza pandemic at the urging of the WHO. In this context, INPES developed campaigns early on to promote hygiene practices and preventive measures that also help limit seasonal viral infections. [author’s summary excerpt]
