Regional indicators of screening and prevalence of hepatitis B and C. France 2010–2012

This summary highlights regional disparities in terms of screening activity, positivity rates, and the prevalence of hepatitis B and C: \b7 the French overseas departments (DOM) and the Île-de-France region are the areas most affected by the hepatitis B virus; \b7 Hepatitis C screening rates are higher in the DOM than in mainland France; \b7 the positivity rate for the hepatitis C virus is higher in the Île-de-France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) regions than in other regions. These disparities reflect specific regional epidemiological characteristics, which may require dedicated studies, particularly in the French overseas departments. These indicators could help better tailor regional policies to combat hepatitis B and C. (R.A.)
