In Week 15, the COVID-19 incidence rate declined but remained very high, with a trend toward stabilization among those aged 60 and older.
Mainland France:
Positivity rate stable and still very high nationwide
Sharp decline in virological indicators among those under 20
Incidence rate declining but still above 1,000 per 100,000 in all regions
Hospital admissions remain at a high level
Overseas territories:
Incidence rate still rising in Réunion
Continued improvement in the epidemiological situation in Guadeloupe and Martinique
Variants
Omicron is the dominant variant, with its BA.2 sublineage accounting for 99% of sequences as of April 4 (Flash S14)
Prevention
Vaccination as of April 18, 2022 (Covid Vaccine data):
83.6% of those aged 65 and older had received a full primary vaccination series and a booster dose
Among those aged 60–79, 2.7% had received a second booster dose (28.8% of those eligible in this age group)
Among those aged 80 and older, 11.2% had received their second booster (17.4% of those eligible in this population)
In a context of widespread circulation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses:
Importance of self-isolation in case of symptoms and a positive COVID-19 test
The need to continue practicing individual preventive measures: first and foremost, wearing a mask (especially in enclosed spaces, during large gatherings, or in the presence of vulnerable individuals), washing hands, and frequently ventilating enclosed spaces
