In Week 04, SARS-CoV-2 continued to circulate at very high levels amid an increase in the prevalence of more transmissible variants.

  • Stabilization in the number of new confirmed cases

  • Number of hospitalized patients remains very high

  • Increase in ICU admissions (+6%)

  • Mainland France: the hardest-hit regions: Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Île-de-France, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, and Grand-Est

  • Overseas territories: sharp increase in indicators in Mayotte

  • COVID-19-related mortality remains high

Emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants

  • Flash Survey #2 of January 27, 2021: increase in the prevalence of emerging variants

Prevention

  • Vaccination: Update as of February 2, 2021

    • 1,615,088 people have received at least one dose

    • Vaccination coverage among residents of nursing homes or long-term care facilities: 57.1%

  • Strengthening of barrier measures and contact restrictions

  • If symptoms develop, immediate isolation is required, and a test must be performed as soon as possible
