In Week 12, SARS-CoV-2 transmission intensified across the country, with an increase in new
hospitalizations.
Mainland France:
Incidence rates rising across all age groups for the third consecutive week
Incidence rates >1,000/100,000 in all regions
Positivity rate remains very high and is rising
Admissions to critical care slightly up
Overseas territories:
High and rising incidence rate in Réunion (>1,000)
High incidence rate but decreasing in Martinique (>1,000)
Reinfections: 5.4% of all confirmed cases in week 11
Variants
Omicron accounted for more than 99.9% of interpretable sequences in the Flash S11 survey of March 14
BA.2 sublineage predominant (84% in S11)
Prevention
Vaccination as of March 28, 2022 (Covid Vaccine data):
79.5% of the total population had received a full primary vaccination series
73.2% of those aged 18 and older and 83.2% of those aged 65 and older had received a booster dose
Need for a complete vaccination regimen including the booster, with a second dose for eligible individuals, particularly those aged 80 and older, nursing home residents, and immunocompromised individuals
Against the backdrop of a sharp increase in the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses:
Importance of individuals continuing to follow preventive measures, including wearing a mask—particularly in enclosed spaces or in the presence of vulnerable people—handwashing, and frequent ventilation of enclosed spaces
