Key Points
In Week 46, the spread of SARS-CoV-2 accelerated sharply across the entire mainland, and the rise in new hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care units intensified.
Mainland France:
Increase in incidence rates across all age groups and regions
Effective reproduction number rising sharply to 1.59
New hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care on the rise in most regions
Overseas territories:
High and rising incidence rates in Martinique and Réunion
Variants
Over 99% of cases identified as the Delta variant through sequencing during Flash surveys S43 (Oct. 25–29) and S44 (Nov. 1–5).
Contact tracing
Significant increase in the number of cases and contacts
Decrease in the proportion of new cases linked to a known transmission chain
Prevention
Vaccination as of November 23, 2021 (Covid Vaccine data):
77.1% of the total population had received at least one dose, and 75.5% were fully vaccinated
Among those aged 65 and older, 35.5% had received a booster dose; this rate rose to 73.3% among eligible individuals in this age group
Wave 29 of the CoviPrev survey (October 28–November 5):
Slight decrease in anxiety (23%, -3 points) and sleep disturbances (66%, -4 points) since the previous wave (September 28 to October 5)
Upward trend in depressive symptoms since July (17%, +4 percentage points)
Importance of combined measures: vaccination, including booster shots for eligible individuals, participation in contact tracing, and adherence to preventive measures
