With nearly 25 million people infected, the African continent continues to bear the heaviest burden of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. In France, people from sub-Saharan Africa are not spared by this pandemic, justifying the efforts undertaken in recent years by public authorities to improve access to testing, prevention, and care. This survey explores, for the first time, the knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors regarding HIV/AIDS among African populations living in the Île-de-France region. Conducted using an original methodology among 1,874 people aged 18 to 49, this study addresses: knowledge of modes of transmission and protection, opinions and attitudes toward people living with HIV/AIDS, fear of HIV/AIDS and risk perception, prevention behaviors, and testing practices. This book is intended for all those involved in the fight against AIDS: prevention workers, health and social service professionals, as well as those responsible for implementing public health policies regarding HIV/AIDS.
