New bilingual health records in 15 languages

Santé publique France has released the 2018 edition of its new bilingual health booklets, available in 15 languages. Developed in collaboration with the Committee for the Health of Exiles (Comede) and several partner organizations, these bilingual health booklets serve as a tool for communication and dialogue between migrants and healthcare and social service professionals.

They will be presented on Wednesday, November 7, during the seminar “Understanding/Being Understood: Healthcare Interpretation for Non-French Speakers.” This event, co-organized by Santé publique France and the Ministry of Solidarity and Health, will be available via livestream (live and for three months).

This new edition draws on feedback from users and professionals since 2006, when the first joint edition of these documents was published, with over one million copies distributed.

With more accessible wording, the 2018 edition features expanded content, particularly on mental health, chronic diseases, pregnancy, and more. It addresses key health and prevention topics and provides practical information to facilitate access to care and daily life. Comprehension is facilitated by the bilingual layout on a double-page spread, with the text in French on one side and the same text in one of the 15 available languages on the other: English, Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Mandarin Chinese, Haitian Creole, Dari, Spanish, Georgian, Mandarin, Urdu, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Tamil, and Turkish.

The booklets are distributed in person and free of charge by healthcare professionals. They are available for download on the website.
