Workplace Hazards: A Survey of Workers.

How do workers respond to occupational hazards? Under what conditions are they recognized as having an occupational illness? A group of researchers—including physicians and social anthropologists—surveyed 100 workers in sectors with occupational hazards (automotive, nuclear, and pharmaceutical). The findings suggest, in particular, that the individualization of tasks undermines occupational health prevention and protection.
