Food: Tell me what you eat, and I'll tell you who you are.
The French have maintained a fairly traditional approach to their diet: 94% eat or drink something for breakfast; for lunch, 69% eat at home, and their meal includes meat (66%) and vegetables, and ends with a dairy product and/or a dessert, usually fruit. Bread is served three times out of four. Dinner is also eaten at home and is less substantial than lunch. “Light” meals are accepted only with a “yes, but…” However, the French are aware that diet plays an important role in health (98%). The French people’s nutritional well-being must be protected to preserve their health.
