For the past 10 years, on November 1, thousands of smokers have taken on the ambitious challenge of going 30 days without smoking. Santé publique France, the Ministry of Health, and the National Health Insurance program are joining forces to offer free, personalized support to anyone who wants to quit smoking. Among daily smokers, 55% want to quit. Good news: there’s still time for latecomers to sign up at mois-sans-tabac.fr!

Tools and support to help you succeed in living a smoke-free life

To maximize your chances of success, Tobacco-Free Month offers a comprehensive toolkit. It’s free and available to everyone:

  • A dedicated website (mois-sans-tabac.fr): personalized advice, daily tracking, and resources to help you prepare to quit.

  • The Tabac info service app: a free e-coaching program developed by the French Health Insurance System (Assurance Maladie) in collaboration with Santé publique France and the Francophone Society of Tobacco Control, featuring advice tailored to each user’s profile.

  • 39 89: a free helpline (no surcharge, available Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) to speak with a tobacco specialist and receive personalized support. Since 2023, this service has been available to people who are deaf or hard of hearing via the Acceo platform.

  • Smoking cessation kits: available for free at pharmacies and online, they include a 40-day program, a savings wheel, and informational flyers.

Did you know?

Participating in Smoke-Free Month increases your chances of quitting smoking for good by five times. And with support, your chances of success after one year are doubled!

A large-scale national and local campaign to inform and support smokers

More than 18,000 pharmacies in France are distributing kits and providing information to smokers. Information and support booths are also being set up in shopping malls, train stations, and public spaces in participating regions to reach out to smokers.

An Inspiring Campaign: “Become an Ex-Smoker”

The campaign highlights the success stories of former smokers through testimonials and motivational messages. The goal? To show that quitting smoking is possible and that every step counts. The messages are broadcast on TV, online, on posters in pharmacies, and on social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).

A renewed and strengthened partnership with the M6 Group: airing of TV spots featuring Éric Antoine, a judge on *France’s Got Talent* and a loyal ambassador for *Smoke-Free Month*.

New Digital Initiatives in 2026:

  • A digital campaign featuring influencer Hugo on his own and a smoking cessation coach who supports and motivates the “Team Stoppeurs” throughout their challenge to quit smoking.
  • A “Smoke-Free Hands” digital campaign: tutorials on replacing smoking-related gestures with new habits.
