Heat Wave, Extreme Heat

• Between weeks 27 and 31, nearly 1,700 emergency room visits (67% of which resulted in hospitalization
  ) and 360 SOS Médecins calls were recorded for the iCanicule
  composite health indicator(including hyperthermia, dehydration, and hyponatremia) were recorded. The age groups most affected were people aged 75 and older (58% of emergency room visits and 43% of SOS Médecins calls), followed by people aged 15 to 74 (34% and 41%, respectively).
• Emergency department visits were primarily due to hyponatremia (41%) or dehydration (41%). SOS Médecins interventions related to iCanicule were mostly cases of heatstroke (52%).
• Between weeks 27 and 29, emergency department visits and SOS Médecins calls related to iCanicule were still higher than what had been observed in previous years. In weeks 30 and 31, these figures returned to their usual levels.

Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika

From May 1 (start of enhanced surveillance) to August 3, 2026, the following cases were identified in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes:

• 12 imported cases of chikungunya;
• 27 imported cases of dengue (41% imported from the Caribbean);
•  0 cases of Zika;
• no locally acquired cases identified.
