Key Points

Malaria

• 10 new cases were reported in week 34, including 2 locally acquired, 5 imported, and 3 under investigation;
•  Since the beginning of 2026, 335 cases of malaria have been recorded, including 76 locally acquired cases and 231 imported cases, mostly from the Comoros;
•  Two cases were hospitalized in week 34, bringing the total number of hospitalized malaria cases since the beginning of the year to 90.

Acute Respiratory Infections

• Influenza: the influenza A(H1) virus has begun to circulate;
• Bronchiolitis: 3 emergency department visits for bronchiolitis were recorded at the CHM in week 34, down from the previous week (6 visits).

Acute gastroenteritis

• Increase in the number of positive rotavirus A test results; the positivity rate rose from 3.4% in week 32 to 19.4% (14 positive test results) in week 34;
• Eight emergency department visits at the CHM for acute gastroenteritis were recorded in week 34, including one secondary hospitalization;
• The acute rotavirus A gastroenteritis situation has entered the pre-epidemic phase since week 34.

Hepatitis A

• One new case was reported in week 34;
• Since the beginning of 2026, 36 cases of hepatitis A have been biologically confirmed in Mayotte.

Smallpox B (Mpox)

• Mpox continues to circulate in Mayotte, with persistent local transmission since the end of June;
•  Since the beginning of 2026, 50 cases of Mpox have been reported in Mayotte, including 19 imported cases, 28 locally acquired cases, 1 case with undetermined epidemiological status, and 2 cases under investigation.
• Since Week 30, locally acquired cases have been detected in the context of household transmission, particularly in the municipality of Boueni.
