The weather conditions led to an orange heat wave alert being issued on June 19 for seven departments (Vienne, Haute-Vienne, Charente, Corrèze, Creuse, Dordogne, and Lot-et-Garonne) and a yellow heat wave alert for the others (Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Landes, Gironde, Charente-Maritime, and Deux-Sèvres).
  • All departments in the region were placed under a red heat wave alert on June 21, 2026, and according to Météo-France, this heat wave affecting France is of a severity level close to or equivalent to that of 2003.
