Heat Waves and Health in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region. Bulletin dated June 23, 2026.
- Since June 22, Météo-France has placed four departments under an orange heat wave alert: Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, and Vaucluse. The two Alpine departments (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes) remain under a yellow heat wave alert.
- At the regional level, an analysis of emergency care utilization for the iCanicule composite health indicator shows:
- An increase in medical procedures over the past 3 days at SOS Médecins clinics;
- A stable number of visits to emergency departments over the past three days, following a peak observed on Friday, June 19.
- On Monday, June 22, the level of this indicator was comparable to that observed in late May during the first heat wave (the region had not been placed under an orange heat wave alert during that episode), both in emergency rooms and at SOS Médecins clinics.
