Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Following the decline recorded in February, the situation in Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy has stabilized over the past four weeks at a relatively low level. In Martinique, the outbreak continues: the number of cases in week 2014-14 is slightly higher than in the previous week; all municipalities are affected, and those with high incidence rates are widely scattered across the territory. The central region (Fort-de-France, Lamentin, Schoelcher) remains heavily affected. In Guadeloupe, for the second consecutive week, a sharp increase in the number of clinically suggestive cases was observed in week 2014-14. A new municipality has been affected, and another has exceeded the departmental average incidence. The Cemie, which met today, confirmed the situation as an epidemic (Phase 3a of the Psage). In French Guiana, the circulation of the virus remains moderate, but two outbreaks have now been identified in the municipalities of Kourou and Matoury.
