Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

Following the decline recorded in February, the situation in Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy stabilized in March at a relatively low level. In Martinique, the epidemic continues to spread: the number of cases increased in week 2014-13, all municipalities are affected, and the highest municipal incidence rates are observed in the North (St. Pierre), the South (Marin), the West (Anses d’Arlet), the East (Trinité), and the center (Schoelcher). In Guadeloupe, a sharp increase in the number of clinically suggestive cases was observed in week 2014-13. Two municipalities are now classified as epidemic zones (Baie-Mahault and Terre de Bas). The Cemie is scheduled to meet shortly to discuss a change in the Psage phase. In French Guiana, the circulation of the virus remains moderate but is spreading from the identified outbreak in the municipality of Kourou and now affects the island of Cayenne.
