COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of April 21, 2022

Key points

In Guadeloupe

The incidence rate continued to decline last week, alongside a decrease in the testing rate, which may be partly related to the April 15 holiday. Although there has been a decline in viral circulation in Guadeloupe over the past five weeks, incidence and positivity rates remain high.

The effective reproduction number (R_e) for samples collected between April 10 and 16, 2022, was 0.87—95% CI [0.83–0.90], significantly below 1, reflecting the decline of the epidemic but indicating that the virus is still actively circulating in the archipelago.

In hospitals, the situation was generally stable, although a slight increase in new hospital admissions across all departments was observed.

In Saint Martin

Incidence and positivity rates were stable amid a slight decrease in testing. However, the hospital situation remained calm, as it had been the previous week.

In Saint-Barthélemy

The incidence rate and positivity rate were clearly decreasing amid increased testing. In hospitals, the situation was calm.
