COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of February 10, 2022

Key Points

In Guadeloupe, the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic continued to decline in week S05, as evidenced by all epidemiological surveillance indicators. However, the decrease in incidence rates and positivity rates over the past several weeks remained potentially linked to reduced testing. The effective R value calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between January 30 and February 5, 2022, was 0.62—95% CI [0.60–0.63], significantly below 1, confirming the decline of the epidemic. It should be noted that the effective R on February 1 was also significantly below 1. The decrease in the incidence rate affected all age groups in week S05.

However, the 15–44 and 0–14 age groups still had the highest incidence rates. In hospitals, the number of new admissions across all departments was decreasing. However, hospitals remain under strain, with a significant number of deaths in week S05.
