COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of February 4, 2022

Key Points

Week S04 marks the second consecutive week of declining virological indicators in Guadeloupe. However, these virological indicators remain at very high levels. Furthermore, the decrease in the number of new cases should be viewed in the context of reduced
testing. The effective reproduction number (R_e) calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between January 23 and 29, 2022, was 0.68—95% CI [0.66–0.69], significantly below 1, confirming this downward trend over the past 7-day rolling period. Furthermore, the 15–44 and 0–14 age groups recorded the highest incidence rates.

At the hospital level, the number of
new admissions across all departments and the number of emergency room visits decreased, while the number of deaths increased in week S04. Hospital pressure remains very high.
