COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of January 21, 2022

Key Points

In Guadeloupe, the epidemiological situation regarding COVID-19 continued to deteriorate in week S02. The positivity rate was rising, and the incidence rate was also continuing to rise, reaching a level never before seen despite relatively stable testing rates. The 0–14 and 15–44 age groups recorded the highest incidence rates. However, although the effective reproduction number (R_e) calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between January 9 and 15, 2022, is significantly greater than 1; 1.53 – 95% CI [1.51–1.56],
SARS-CoV-2 transmission during this period slowed compared to the previous seven days. At the hospital level, an increase in
admissions across all departments and in the number of deaths was still observed in week S02.
