COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of January 28, 2022

Key Points

In Guadeloupe, despite the decline in the incidence rate, SARS-CoV-2 circulation remained at a high level during week S03, against a backdrop of declining testing rates. The positivity rate, meanwhile, continued to rise. The 0–14
and 15–44 age groups recorded the highest incidence rates. The effective reproduction number (Rt) calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between January 16 and 22, 2022, was 0.89—95% CI [0.88–0.91]—significantly below 1, indicating a decline in the epidemic compared to the previous seven days.

The hospital remained under strain during week S03, with a still significant number of new admissions across all departments and emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19.
