COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of June 11, 2021
Key points
Guadeloupe
Since the peak of the third wave, incidence and positivity rates fell below the alert and vigilance thresholds, respectively, for the first time in week 2021-22. However, in hospitals, the number of emergency room visits and new admissions across all departments remained stable compared to week 2021-21. Hospital pressure persists, with a significant number of hospitalized cases (across all departments) and patients in intensive care. The effective R value for tests conducted during week 2021-22 was significantly below 1: 0.61 [0.52–0.71].
Saint-Barthélemy
Virological surveillance indicators recorded in week 2021-22 were low and stable, with testing rates also remaining stable. In hospitals, no new hospitalizations have been recorded in the past four weeks.
Saint Martin
In week 2021-22, virological surveillance indicators remained consistently stable at a high level amid similarly stable testing rates. New hospital admissions were slightly decreasing, and the number of emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19 was stable. The virus is actively circulating in the territory. Individual prevention measures, collective containment efforts, and the acceleration of vaccination must be strengthened.
