COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of March 19, 2021

Key points

Guadeloupe

Epidemiological surveillance indicators remained stable at a high level last week. The incidence rate was above the alert threshold and the positivity rate above the vigilance threshold. A significant number of clusters and new ICU admissions were observed. In week 2021-10, among the screened positive RT-PCR tests, the proportion of the UK variant (20I/501Y.V1) was close to 75%.

Saint-Barthélemy

Virological surveillance indicators were slightly lower last week but remained at a high level. Active circulation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is clearly present on the island, with low-level local transmission of the English variant (20I/501Y.V1).

Saint Martin

A slight decrease in epidemiological surveillance indicators was observed last week. Levels correspond to those recorded at the end of 2020. Isolated cases of the English variant (20I/501Y.V1) were detected by RT-PCR screening tests last week.
