COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of March 24, 2022

Key points

Guadeloupe

In Guadeloupe, a decrease in viral circulation was observed in week 2022-11. Incidence and positivity rates were declining against a backdrop of stable testing activity. The effective reproduction number (R_e) calculated for samples collected between March 13 and 19, 2022, was 1.02 – 95% CI [0.98–1.05], which is not significantly higher than 1. At the hospital level, the number of emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19 was increasing, while the number of new hospitalizations remained stable compared to the previous week

Saint Martin

In Saint Martin, epidemiological surveillance indicators have been generally low for two consecutive weeks. An increase in the incidence rate is observed in S11 against a backdrop of relatively stable testing rates. In hospitals, only one new admission was recorded, as in the previous week.

Saint-Barthélemy

In Saint-Barthélemy, virological surveillance indicators in Week 11 were rising due to increased testing. However, activity remained low and stable in hospitals. The situation must be closely monitored over the coming weeks.
