COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of March 3, 2022

Key Points

In Guadeloupe, the decline in SARS-CoV-2 circulation continued in week 2022-08, amid the dominance of the Omicron variant. In week 2022-08, incidence and positivity rates continued to decline, partly due to reduced testing. The decrease in the incidence rate was observed across all age groups. However, the highest incidence rates were observed in the 15–44 and 45–64 age groups.

Significantly below 1 since February 1, the effective reproduction number (Rt) calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between February 20 and 26, 2022, was 0.66 (95% CI [0.63–0.69]). This R-value confirms the decline in SARS-CoV-2 transmission in Guadeloupe. Hospital activity was decreasing. Indeed, the number of emergency room visits, as well as new admissions across all departments, were down compared to the previous week.
