COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of May 12, 2022

Key points

In Guadeloupe

In Guadeloupe, all virological indicators remained stable but continued at a high level. Over the 7-day rolling period from May 1 to May 7, 2022, the effective R value of 1.04 - 95% CI [1.00–1.08], significantly greater than 1, indicates that SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation remains active across the archipelago. Furthermore, a marked increase in the incidence rate was recorded among children aged 0–14.

In terms of hospital care, the number of emergency room visits decreased, while at the same time, the number of new hospital admissions was on the rise. As of May 11, 2022, just as in the previous week, no new deaths were recorded.

In Saint Martin

In Saint Martin, the epidemiological situation was generally stable in Week 18. The number of new cases remained stable amid a decline in testing.

In hospitals, only three new emergency room visits and one new hospital admission were recorded in Week 18.

Saint Barthélemy

In Saint-Barthélemy, the epidemiological situation was generally stable. The number of new cases remained stable despite a decrease in testing. The positivity rate increased slightly compared to Week 17.

Since the resurgence of the epidemic observed in Week 12, the hospital situation has remained calm.
