COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of May 25, 2022

Key points

Guadeloupe

In Guadeloupe, incidence and positivity rates were declining amid stable testing activity. The effective R value of 0.95—95% CI [0.91–0.98], significantly below 1 over the seven-day rolling period from May 15 to 21—was consistent with this decline. However, these indicators remain at a high level, and SARS-CoV-2 continues to circulate actively throughout the archipelago. The highest incidence rates were
recorded among those aged 30–39, 40–49, and 50–59.

The number of emergency room visits and new hospitalizations across all departments remained stable. However, new admissions to critical care units decreased slightly.

Saint Martin

Although testing activity is increasing, incidence and positivity rates remained stable in Week 20. As of May 24, 2022, only two new hospital admissions were recorded, and no deaths occurring in Saint Martin have been recorded in SIVIC since Week 6.

Saint-Barthélemy

Despite the rising testing rate in week S20, incidence and positivity rates remained stable. In hospitals, the situation has remained calm since the resurgence of the epidemic observed in week S12.
