COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of May 5, 2022
Key points
In Guadeloupe
SARS-CoV-2 transmission remained active in S17. Incidence and positivity rates remained high despite a decrease in testing. The 7-day rolling effective R from April 24 to 30 was 1.03—95% CI [0.99–1.07]—not significantly higher than 1. The hospital situation was relatively stable in Week 17 despite a decrease in new hospital admissions. As of May 4, 2022, no deaths were recorded in Week 17, for the first time since Week 2021-03.
In Saint Martin
In Saint Martin, an improvement in the epidemiological situation was observed in Week 17. New SARS-CoV-2 infections decreased by 33%. However, this decrease may be partly due to reduced testing.
All hospital indicators have been stable and at a low level since Week 13. No new emergency room visits, no new hospitalizations for COVID-19, and no new deaths were recorded in Week 17.
In Saint Barthélemy
In Saint Barthélemy, during Week 17, the epidemiological situation continued to improve. The number of new cases was declining amid reduced testing. Although one new hospitalization was recorded in Week 17, the hospital situation remained calm.
